Slipknot, the Grammy Award winning hard rock machine from Des Moines, IA is back. The band will release its fourth album, All Hope is Gone, on Roadrunner Records on August 26, 2008. The album was recorded this spring in Slipknot's home state and is co-produced by the band and Dave Fortman.

"The nine" will spend their summer laying waste to arenas in North America as they headline the first annual Rock Star Energy Mayhem Festival. As Slipknot's first tour in three years, these dates are sure to bring the band's legion of diehard fans, affectionately dubbed "maggots," out in full force.

All Hope is Gone is more of a statement than a record. Corey Taylor comments, "Every album we have made is a statement about that space in time. I think this era is the most mature, most beautiful and the most powerful. We have made an album that will show the road behind, the road ahead, and where we are as men. I think it's the best thing I've ever made. And I challenge anyone to prove me wrong."

The album promises to blend elements of 2004's Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses) and 2001's Iowa, while adding a perspective, freshness and depth that only three years apart can bring. The first single "Psychosocial" will be delivered to radio on June 30 and will be available digitally on July 1. A complete track listing will be announced shortly.

Slipknot is the ever-evolving definitive voice in hard rock music. They are pioneers of an alternative metal scene, where scarring riffs and thunderous percussion are punctuated by vocals, which seamlessly shift from brutal to melodic within a breath. The band's previous studio albums, Slipknot, Iowa, Vol.3:(The Subliminal Verses) have all been certified platinum or better, as have their DVDs, Welcome to Our Neighborhood, Disasterpieces and Voliminal: Inside the Nine. The double live 9.0: Live holds a gold certification.

Some new info from Shawn's interview with HardDriveRadio:

"Clown from Slipknot was on the hotLine yesterday with Lou (I got to say hello, too!) and it was cool catching up with him. We caught him while he was shopping for tables for his storage area, since in Iowa, there's been all kinds of horrible weather and water problems. He is getting ready for a flood warning and doesn't want to lose any equipment, artwork, memorablia and other stuff he has in storage. So he has to get everything off the floor! Hope the waters recede for him and everyone else in IA and WI! Anyhow, from what we can glean from the chat, rehearsals begin on Monday, and Shawn is heading out today for a short tour with his other band, Dirty Little Rabbits, who are opening for Mindless Self Indulgence. He said it looks like DLR have signed to The End label, home of MSI.

When asked about the production for the 'Knot tour, he told us they are talking about getting back to basics, like they were on their first tour, but with new outfits and masks. And no, those "death masks" that you've seen on the website are NOT the new masks. They were actually used in the band's video for "Vermilion" originally. And Clown, who is the artistic director for the band, decided to use them for visual enhancement and keep things interesting. It certainly had a lot of us wondering, that's for sure! Anyhow, the metal track (which is the title track) comes out this weekend, so be sure to keep and eye on the websites, and the radio track is coming on the 30th, which Clown says has "gang vocals" in it. I am going to get a listen to select songs on the record next week and I can NOT wait...."

According to The Pulse of Radio, SLIPKNOT reveals a few new songtitles in the new issue of Revolver magazine, which focuses on bands appearing on this summer's Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour. Among the tracks tentatively named are "Moth", "Chapter One", "The Eleventh March", "Dirge", "Dead Memories", "Vendetta" and "Psycho Social". Although the title of the album itself is not revealed, all hope is not gone: the band plans to unveil the name of the August 26 release any day now.

One person who might like to know more about the disc is SLIPKNOT percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan, who admitted to The Pulse of Radio that he's not up on the latest details. "I have not really spent a moment with this record," he said. "I'm working on myself, and I have been for the last three years, after my father passed and my mom has Alzheimer's, and kids are growing up, and everything's just crazy. So I spent a lot of time on me. So I haven't really even sat down and listened to this whole record to begin with. I don't even know what most of the songs are called."

"Clown" also told The Pulse of Radio that making the new record was both the "worst" and "best" recording experience of his life.

A heavier track from the new SLIPKNOT album will be sent to metal radio shows on June 15, with an official rock radio single coming on June 30.
